There are SO many stunning Airbnbs in North Georgia, but contrary to popular belief, not all of them are practical for hosting or celebrating your special day. As someone who’s stayed in and photographed at countless Airbnbs in the area, I feel like I’ve learned a thing or two about choosing the right ones!
As such, the Airbnb and vacation rentals I’ve listed below for North Georgia are properties I’ve personally vetted and photographed, so I know they work beautifully for couples looking to have an incredible “just-us” experience or an intimate celebration with a few loved-ones!
Before we jump into some of the recommendations though, here are a few tid-bits I’d love to share with you about booking your airbnb in the North Georgia area!
Why Should You Book an Airbnb for Your Small Wedding or Elopement?
Unless you’re eloping at home, you’re going to need a place to stay for your special day, and in my humble opinion, it should be an Airbnb or VRBO! I always recommend to couples to book an Airbnb or VRBO for their elopement day because there are just SO many benefits to doing so! (:
Some of the biggest benefits to booking one for your elopement include:
Ultimate Privacy
It’s pretty standard that you can’t reserve a space on public lands to have a ceremony. As such, you’ll often run into crowds or even other weddings happening nearby if it’s a popular location. Privacy is NEVER a guarantee on public lands, so booking a rental ensures ultimate privacy if you’re introverted and socially anxious. A lot of my couples are private, introverted, and socially anxious, so having a ceremony at an Airbnb is often a great option for them!
Easy-Access Ceremony Locations
Many rentals offer beautiful outdoor spaces that are perfect for family members who may not be able to hike or walk long distances. And to be completely honest, there aren’t many great easy-access views in North Georgia to have a ceremony with family. Most of these locations are extremely popular locations in the front-country! But, by booking a rental for your ceremony with family, you’re ensuring not only privacy as previously stated but accessibility, too. (:
Close Proximity to Nature and Adventure
Many of North Georgia’s most beautiful hiking trails for waterfalls and mountain views don’t have nearby hotels. Vacation rentals often place you much closer to these outdoor locations, making sunrise hikes, stargazing, kayaking, backpacking, or waterfall exploration much easier on your wedding day since you won’t have to travel so far. (:
A Cozy Home Base and Elopement Hub
One of my favorite parts about Airbnb elopements is how your day happens in one comfortable place. You can wake up slowly, make breakfast together, get ready without rushing, share a first look on the porch or in the forest all without ever feeling like you’re bouncing between locations. Airbnb’s are often cozier, and comfier than a traditional wedding venue, and can feel lived-in, like they’re *really yours* for the duration of your stay. I think this reduces stress, keeps your day flowing easily and simply, and maximizes coverage time with your photographer. (:

What Are the Drawbacks or Challenges to Booking an Airbnb for Your Wedding Venue?
While an Airbnb can be the perfect place to stay and celebrate your intimate wedding or adventure elopement, there are a few points to keep in mind when searching for one or booking one in North Georgia.
Some of the biggest challenges or drawbacks include:
Steep, Winding Roads and/or Limited Parking
Some of the most breathtaking mountain cabins in North Georgia can also come with a big tradeoff: steep gravel or paved roads, narrow driveways, and/or limited parking.
Before booking:
- Read guest reviews and the rental description for information regarding road conditions
- Peruse the rental photo gallery for any photos of the driveway
- Look at a satellite view of the property on Google Maps to get another perspective of the outdoor space and/or driveway
- If you can’t find this information in reviews or in the rental description, ask the host for additional photos or whether standard vehicles can easily access the property
- Consider whether your guests or vendors will feel comfortable driving there
Not Every Rental Has Ceremony Space
Most of my couples LOVE mountain views (I DO TOO)! But, many rentals in the mountains are on difficult terrain and have little to no usable outdoor space with tiny porches, steep yards, or heavily wooded lots that aren’t exactly ideal for exchanging vows.
Before booking, carefully review listing photos to make sure there’s ample outdoor space, or a larger porch that could accommodate a small and intimate ceremony.
Your Host Is Not A Wedding Day Coordinator
Yes, hosts are equipped to help you and give assistance throughout your stay, but they’re not equipped to do what a normal wedding venue coordinator would do.
Most Airbnb hosts do not:
- Coordinate vendors
- Direct guest arrivals
- Set up ceremony spaces
- Or, answer wedding-day planning questions
Airbnb hosts are equipped only to help you have a nice stay at their rental property; any wedding planning or wedding support is often outside of their scope (unless otherwise stated in the rental description, of course). You can expect to handle those details on your own or, you know, hire me to help! (: I’m always happy to help with timelines and logistics!

Quick Tips Before Booking Your Airbnb Wedding Venue
I know I’ve already listed out quite a bit of information about booking an Airbnb rental for your small wedding or elopement day above, but don’t skip this section!! By reading and taking all of these quick tips into account, I promise you’ll have a much simpler and less stressful experience choosing your rental!
Check out these pro tips below before booking:
Think About Getting Ready Logistics
Do you want to get ready together? Then a one-roomed airbnb could work fine! However, If you’re wanting to get ready separately, I recommend having at least two separate rooms, two separate floors or even a guest house to have ample privacy and space to get ready and have photos taken! (:
Book Your Rental As Close As You Can to Your Primary Location
Most of my couples choose to exchange vows on public lands rather than at the Airbnb itself. If that’s your plan, I recommend choosing your ceremony location first. In this way, you’ll be able to book your Airbnb as close as you possibly can to your desired spot to avoid travel stress and have more flexibility in case of terrible weather!

Consider the Surrounding Area
From my experience, many Airbnbs can be in remote and secluded areas, and some couples really care about having other attractions or conveniences nearby.
Before booking, ask yourself questions like:
- Are there any grocery stores or gas stations nearby?
- How far is the nearest restaurant? Or the nearest hospital?
- Is there reliable cell service?
- Are there nearby trails or other outdoor attractions?
- Am I comfortable driving 30 minutes to an hour to get somewhere?
A gorgeous cabin that’s 45 minutes from other conveniences or attractions may not be the best fit for every couple. If you’re worried about longer drives to stores, or hospitals, consider an Airbnb close to a town! Just a heads up though: most Airbnbs in North Georgia are 30 minutes to an hour away from most trailheads or other attractions!
Avoid Dimly Lit or Dark Airbnb Interiors
While many mountain cabins in North Georgia feature cozy wooden interiors (which are lovely and awesome), they can often be quite dark, and therefore aren’t as aesthetic for photos. If photography is a priority for you, I highly recommend looking for Airbnbs with plenty of natural light, large windows, and brighter interior spaces with minimal clutter. And, if you’re unsure, reach out to me if we’re already working together! I’m always happy to offer up my expertise and let you know what Airbnb option would be the best for photos of the two of you (and your loved-ones if you bring them along for the celebration). (:

Be Transparent & Honest With Your Host
Your Airbnb rental isn’t a party or large event venue. It’s someone’s home.
Don’t try to plan a small wedding on your host’s property without their knowledge. Let them know exactly what you’re wanting to do on their property. Be sure to be kind, and honest when you reach out to them!
When you reach out, include:
- Your total guest count
- Whether your ceremony will take place on the property
- Any vendors you’ll be bringing (HMUAs, officiant, private chef, etc) and if they allow for professional photography on the premises
- Whether or not you’d like to use simple decor or florals
- Whether or not you’ll be planning a light reception at the property
Honesty and transparency helps build trust and ensures everyone is on the same page. Most hosts just want to know that their property won’t be damaged and can realistically host what you’re wanting to do.
Keep Your Group Size Small
At the end of the day, an Airbnb property is someone’s home, and they’re giving you the privilege to enjoy the space they worked so hard on.
As such, most Airbnb rentals work best for “just us” elopements or intimate celebrations with immediate family only. While I have photographed weddings at rentals that comfortably hosted 20 or more guests, those properties are definitely the exception rather than the rule.
As your guest count grows, so do the logistical hurdles: parking becomes limited, vendors have less room to work, guest access to bathrooms gets tricky, noise levels can rise and disturb neighbors, etc.
If you’re planning to invite around 25 or more guests, I generally recommend looking into a dedicated wedding venue that caters to smaller weddings instead.
Book a Rental That Fits Your Guest Count
Your Airbnb host doesn’t want to see their space damaged or see a 15+ car pileup in a driveway meant for 3 cars. This may seem obvious, but it’s incredibly important.
When booking, look at the rental property description, and see how many guests the rental can comfortably sleep. Don’t book a cabin that sleeps six if you’re planning to host twelve people for your reception or invite twenty guests for your ceremony.
Choose a property that comfortably accommodates both your overnight guests and anyone attending your celebration. Not only does this respect your host’s property and house rules, but it also creates a much more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
The goal is to find a place where your wedding day feels relaxed, comfortable, and intentional; not crowded or stressful. (:
